S.O.S Start of Summer Celebration!

Saturday, June 15th
It's been a long Michigan winter and we know you are thinking of one word...Summer! This year we are helping get you in the spirit of things with our fourth annual SOS Celebration. We'll be serving up food, music, entertainment, and getting all of you geared up for another beautiful summer at Silver Lake Sand Dunes.

RACE THE OWNER's 5K (Run, Walk, or Bike) 10:00AM
This is a family event open to runners, bikers, strollers, wagons...you name it. This run/walk is a great way to get the juices flowing, welcome summer, and bring out the competitve side in our racers. Any runner who beats Don Tucker of Silver Lake Resort & Campground, or Sean Henry of Sierra Sands Family Lodge at the Dunes by the largest margin of time will have a chance to win a number of prizes from our 2013 partners. Participants can also receive a SOS t-shirt from Parkside Store , which is located next to the Silver Lake State Park. Pick up times are Friday, June 15th any time between 9am and 10pm, or Saturday prior to the race. You must provide a ticket to get a shirt, tickets are available at your place of lodging. Shirts are limited so get there early. Partipants will also recieve our first annual 5k Finisher Medal. Medals are limited so you won't want to miss this exhilrating celebration. All participants will also need to fill out a waiver prior to the event. Race Waivers are availabe at Parkside Store during t-shirt pickup or at your place of lodging.
rockwall & Kids zone (Noon to 4pm)
Located at Parkside Store at the half way mark of the race is a wonderful inflatables display and a 25' foot tall Rockwall that accommodates 5 climbers at a time. If it's adventure you seek you've come to the right place! Your 5K medal will allos free entry into the Adventure Zone! You will need a wrist band to enter this area. Wrist bands are available at Parkside Store and Silver Lake Resort & Campground. A nominal fee is required for rockwall.
FOOD & LIVE DJ (5PM TO 7PM)
Don't be late for a dish up of Jeff Clark's slow smoked famous BBQ. He's a pro and you'll soon see why. As you enjoy your plate of traditional BBQ cooking, DJ Zach Vanderwall keeps the celebration going with some solid summer hits. Feel free to throw in some requests, and kids, don't be shy to get your dance on.
Movie night (8:30pm to 10:00pm)
After a long day of summer activities, you can gather in the pavilion and cozy up with your favorite blanket and this years flick, BRAVE! Our 10 foot by 10 foot movie projection screen with stereo surround sound is sure to put a summer smile on your face. Aiming to please we are serving up fresh popped pop corn!
If a June night could talk. It would probably boast, GET OUT OF THE HOUSE!
Fourth of July Activities!
July 2nd- Hart Sparks
Kick off the holidays in Hart. Activities include live music from the Blue Rooster Band & the Rocket Fuel Haulers,
a 25' rock climbing wall, an inflatable water slide, a free painting
station, a cornhole tournament, the Hart Commons Ribbon Cutting
Ceremony, vendors and more! Cap off the night with the fireworks over Hart Lake.
July 3rd-Pentwater Fireworks
Visit the little town of Pentwater and enjoy the fireworks show over Lake Michigan.
July 4th at the Park - Kids Bicycle Parade and Site Decorating Contest
Calling all kids and parents! Show off your holiday spirit by decorating those bikes and wagons in all things red, white and blue. This parade through the campground is a great way to see and be seen! And don't forget to do your patriotic duty by decorating your site. Those with the most spirit are sure to recieve something extra special!
July 4th
- Fireworks on the dunes (Starts at dusk)
A spectacular display of fireworks with one of the most incredible back drops. Make your way up the dunes, rent a boat, or simply catch a view lakeside. Please join us for our annual fireworks display.
Apple & BBQ Cook-Off Festival

September 13th & 14th
No doubt about it...Silver Lake is a popular summer destination. So why
